Vintage French Fruit Crates

Hello!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
I haven't had any of these in the shop since last summer.

These crates are a little different then the ones I found last year.
They can be used for so many different things....
They are great for corralling your everyday dishes in.
I like to sometimes display one of these crates filled with dishes on top of the table or counter.

You can also use these to hold magazines or books in.
I thought I would share a few images of crates that I posted about last year.

This particular french fruit crate was one of my favorites.
I love how it is lined with chicken wire.
I also used this style of crate as a dish drying rack in the kitchen.

I am hoping to find more of these for the shop,  I am currently out of stock...

Here I shared an easy way to set dishes out for a summer barbecue.

I set a small milk bottle caddy from Holland on top of a stack of ironstone plates.

You can read more about how we love to use mason jars for glasses here.

Here I stacked three vintage french fruit crates together and used them to hold my vintage grain sack
runners and lavender pillows  made from vintage french textiles and grain sacks that I will be taking to the Remnants of the Past Show.

I have been busy trying to get everything together for the show next weekend.
I hope to see you there....
You can visit the Remnants of the Past Website to read more about it.

On another note....
My girls get home in a couple of days....
They have been visiting my sister in Atlanta, GA
I can hardly wait to see them, their room looks so empty at the moment : (.....

On a final note....
I hope you all have a safe Memorial weekend.
A special thank you to all of the men and women in uniform who have served our country and are currently serving our country, we owe so much to you for your service!
My heart goes out to all of you that have lost a loved one serving in the military, and to those of you that have lost loved ones under any other circumstances.
We sadly lost a brother 12 years ago in a car accident, life is too short and so unpredictable, be sure you let your loved ones know how much you love them.

Take Care,
Maria

The Chateau Sonoma French Flea Market

Hello!
I wanted to share a quick image of my space at the Chateau Sonoma French Flea Market.

at a flea market : )....
It really was a great experience and
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to be apart of such a beautiful show.
I will share more images of the flea market soon.
I snapped a few pictures at the end of the show yesterday.
I didn't get to take a lot of pictures since I was at the show alone, my girls
are in Atlanta, GA visiting my sister....
If you are ever in Sonoma, Ca be sure and stop by the Chateau Sonoma,
it is truly one of the neatest shops that is filled with unique French antiques.

A French Flea Market this weekend May 19th & 20th at the Chateau Sonoma in Sonoma, California

Hello!
This weekend I will be a vendor at the Chateau Sonoma 9th Annual French Flea Market.
It is held in Sonoma, California at the Chateau Sonoma.
It is a beautiful show filled with one of a kind European finds.

I attended the show last year and took lots of pictures.
I wanted to share a few pictures with you of last year's show!

This is an image of Michel Saga (Paris Musique)
Sarah has a beautiful shop filled with beautiful antiques.

My daughters had to get their picture taken with Michael Saga once they found out
he had a part in the movie Cars.

Marina Geest, from Over the Ocean Antiques, had a beautiful
space.

I loved Fred and Coco's space.

As you can see it was filled with French finds.

This is an image of Chateau Sonoma's space, I loved how they hung an old French swing in a tree and filled it with vintage French watering cans.

Eric and Daniela's space was filled with vintage French linens.

Hope to see you at the show this weekend!
You can visit the Chateau Sonoma Website for more details!

I promise to share my husband's guest post soon.
Enjoy your day!

Over the Ocean Antiques Container Sale at Sue's Barn in Manteca, CA this Weekend

I wanted to share a few images from Marina Gheist's (Over the Ocean Antiques) container sale. The sale began yesterday and will continue until Sunday.
It is being held at Sue's Barn in Manteca, CA.

Marina is so kind and works so very hard.
Importing antiques from Europe is not an easy job, they work so hard to bring these one of the kind items over from Europe for us to enjoy.

The sale will continue through today until May 13th, from
10:00 A.M. Until 5:00 P.M. The address is 12607 E. Hwy 120 Manteca, CA. You can contact Marina at 209-327-9440 or by email, geest32@live.nl Marina imports beautiful one of a kind items from Europe.
Enjoy your weekend!
I will be back with some information on the Chateau Sonoma Show, and I am going to try and get my husband to sit down and write a post on how to make a trundle bed.....

Maria

Vintage Crystal Chandeliers and the Shop

Hello!
I have decided I will be bringing a few crystal chandeliers to the Chateau Sonoma French Flea Market

I am considering taking these two, I just haven't decided yet for sure which ones
I want to sell.....

Also I wanted to answer a few questions about the grain sack totes....
My sister is now making grain sack totes to take to the shows.

I won't be listing our grain sack totes or very many other new items in my shop until after the Remnants of the Past Antique Show.
I will be offering custom orders for the totes sometime in the near future.
If by chance you have a favorite purse you would like to repurpose
the handles, we will attach the handles to our totes for you.

I will be bringing all of my new inventory to the shows, and then I will get back to listing new items in my online shop after the first of June.

I just had to share a cute picture of Austin and Lili before signing off....

Christmas in April Better Homes and Gardens Style and Getting Ready for the Antique Fairs

Hello,
I hope you are all enjoying your week.
I have had to take a break from being on the computer these past few weeks. One of the reasons was Better Homes and Gardens was here for five days
shooting a story for their Christmas issue.
The best part about the shoot was my kids were included in the shoot.
Jessica Thomas was the art director, Leigh Noe was the stylist, and Ray Kachatorian was
the photographer.  My kids loved Ray, and I discovered I had a cookbook that he shot.
It was exciting to see our home professionally decorated for Christmas. It was really neat to watch the stylist, art director, and photographer all work together to produce the story.
The issue will be out November 15th.
A special thank you to Janna Lufkin , who is the reason any of this happened.

*********************************

I have also been busy trying to get ready for the antique shows that are coming up.
I love these blue shutters, they are from the south of France.  At Christmas time I hung a branch across the shutters to hang my petite stockings from.

Thad is going to
make two pieces of furniture using the shutters.  I am hoping to have them

For right now they sit beside my linen closet.....

I will also be a vendor at the Chateau Sonoma French Flea Market, which is May 19th & 20th.
I will be sharing more details with you about the French Flea Market in my next post, it is
a quaint  flea market held in Sonoma, I am honored to be apart of Sarah Anderson's show this year.

Most of these french linens and grain sacks are now being made into pillows slips and or totes,  I will be bringing
a lot of our handmade items to both shows!

This is an image of our french linen totes we sell in our shop, we will be bringing a few of these to the show, I shot this image a year ago, I might have to update it soon.

We will also be bringing some of our grain sack totes!

I hope to see you at one of the shows.
I was lucky enough to run into a blog friend this weekend at the Alameda flea market,
Lorraine Lewis of the Paper Bird blog.
Lorraine is the sweetest person, and I felt lucky to have been able to meet her in person.

I didn't buy this green cupboard directly from Marina, but I later discovered Marina

On a final note....
I wanted to share where I purchased this duvet...
I bought it at Maison Reve about a year ago, this particular style had been discontinued and
was on sale.
I know Yasmine has other great styles available.
It is made from linen and is one of my favorite
duvets.

I hope you all enjoy your week!
A special thank you to Stephanie of the blog Stephmodo, for featuring my home and blog last week.
Stephanie has a beautiful blog, I hope you get a chance to check it out.

Maria
